Les Houches
Les Houches (950m – 1,900m)
Home of the Kandahar World Cup skiing event, Les Houches is situated 6kms south of Chamonix and offers a good variety of long ski descents on picturesque tree-lined slopes with stunning views of Mont Blanc and the Chamonix Valley. This ski resort is a good option in bad weather conditions due to the shelter provided by the tree line cover of the resort. And if you haven’t had enough skiing excitement during the day, there’s free night skiing on the Tourchet piste on Thursdays!
Les Houches is a great ski resort for beginners and intermediates. There are two short gentle beginners’ slopes at the top of both the Prarion and the Bellevue cable cars. The more gentle and longer of the two is at the top of Bellevue.
Boarders need to be aware that there are lots of drag lifts in this ski area and you'll be doing a bit of pushing as there are lots of flat sections between many lift links.
This charming Savoyard ski resort has managed to keep a lovely traditional atmosphere, with some superb mountain restaurants and alpine farm architecture. For the best mountain restaurant in the Chamonix Valley try Les Vieilles Luges.
