Brévent / Flégère
Brevent / Flegere Ski Resort Chamonix (1,030m-2,525m)
Since 2000 the ski areas of Brevent and Flegere have been collectively called Brevent-Flegere. These sunny slopes are one of the most exceptional sites in The Alps, and facing Mont Blanc the views are spectacular. This is the place to gently acquire a tan in this idyllic environment. The pistes are suitable for skiers of all categories and levels of expertise.
Brevent-Flegere is accessible by three cable cars; Chamonix-Plan Praz cabin lift, La Flegere cable car, and Chamonix to Planpraz cabin lift. Since 1997 the area has been linked by a cable car to the Brevent ski area.
The car park only has 100 or so spaces, so take the Chambus. If you do decide to drive, take care in the Flegere car park - they drive on the left hand side.
Le Brevent (1,035m-2,525m)
The Brevent ski area is situated directly above the town of Chamonix. The lift station is an easy 5-10 minute walk from the town centre. It is well suited to intermediate skiers with reasonably challenging piste and off-piste opportunities. With only one green run, Le Brevent ski resort is somewhat limited for beginners.
A renowned black run down from Le Brévent to Planpraz "Charles Bozon" is great for good skiers with an impressive wall along one side. Towards the end of February, Le Brévent hosts the Red Bull Extreme Skiing competition on its steep faces and high cliff jumps.
La Flegere (1,060m-2,500m)
The Flegere ski area is situated in the village of Le Praz. It caters mainly to intermediate skiers with some beginner slopes situated close to the mountain restaurants. You can enjoy the numerous pistes as well as test out your off-piste skills in areas that are in close proximity to the piste. One of the most attractive aspects of Flegere is its south-facing position. This mountain is often bathed in sunlight till the end of the day.
