Getting To Revelstoke BC The main gateway airports are either Kelowna or Calgary. There is an airport at Revelstoke, but as of early 2009 this was only for private planes and charters. Check the Hawkair website for the latest information on any service provided to Revelstoke. As of early 2009 there were no shuttles from Calgary and Kelowna airports. Greyhound buses are an option, but until some ground transportation is further developed, the best way to get to Revelstoke is by car.

The drive from Calgary or Kicking Horse comes via the spectacular Rogers Pass. This incredibly avalanche prone road passes in and out of tunnels and is subject to closure, so build some flexibility into your itinerary particularly if you are heli or cat skiing. This stretch of road is notoriously dangerous, and the many trucks on the road make it feel more intimidating. As you drive towards Revelstoke, don’t forget to turn your watch back one hour.

If coming from Silver Star or Kelowna, the drive is pretty easy through the scenic Okanagan Valley.

Getting Around Revelstoke Revelstoke ski resort is on the outskirts of town, but it’s not walking distance. There is a Revelstoke Transit shuttle between the resort and a few points in the town. In early 2009 this shuttle only operated on the weekends with only 3 runs in the morning spaced an hour apart, and two departure runs in the afternoon. There are imminent plans to increase the frequency of the service. In the meantime, self-drive provides the most convenient and flexible way to get to the mountain. From town, exit off 4th street and follow the small signs to the resort.

Getting around the resort is easy as the village is currently very small. To get between Nelsen Lodge in the village and the day lodge is either via an access road or the gondola. Parking is available at either the Nelsen Lodge area or up at the day lodge.

Downtown Revelstoke is compact and easily accessed on foot, but don’t wear your good boots. Snow removal is a major problem for Revelstoke and there are commonly piles of sloppy snow everywhere.
