Accommodation
The “village” at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort is tiny. Nelsen Lodge, due to open in 2009, is the only option for accommodation on-mountain. It is located at the base area, and the ski-in ski-out luxury suites include living and dining areas. The facilities in the village will be incredibly limited in the short to medium term, so other than the ski resort there’s not much on offer here – yet!
The action is in downtown Revelstoke, approximately 6km away. Revelstoke is a quaint town with a population of about 10,000, so it’s not bustling but has plenty of character. There are
shops,
restaurants,
pubs and a few museums.
In Revelstoke there are various accommodation options available, including B&Bs, lodges and resort hotels. Some are in downtown Revelstoke, whilst others make the most of the picturesque scenery on the outskirts of town. For budget conscious travellers there are a couple of good chain-hotels, and there is also hostel accommodation.
Generally all accommodations provide good value for money. Revelstoke prices are nothing like what you would expect to find in
Whistler or
Banff, and many accommodations also offer special rates that include ski packages.
The
Coast Hillcrest Hotel is on the periphery of town in a hillside location. The hotel has a range of rooms to suit different needs and budgets, from standard rooms up to large suites. The facilities are great, and the restaurant is a complete highlight serving delectable food at very reasonable prices. Powderhounds can highly recommend the Coast Hillcrest Hotel. See our
review for more information.
