Accommodation

There are pros and cons to either staying on mountain at Red Resort or in the nearby town of Rossland. Families might prefer the convenience of staying slope-side at the resort, whilst Rossland offers more variety of lodging for different budgets, and is more vibrant in regards to nightlife and dining opportunities. Those without a car may find staying in Rossland very inconvenient, as the limited transport between the mountain and Rossland can be very inflexible.

Red Mountain Resort Accommodation The village at Red Mountain is small and cute, with very tasteful architecture. The base area has accommodation that includes cabins, lodges and various condos, many of which have hot tubs out on the deck. Many accommodations are ski in and not ski out, but they are only a short walk to the lift base.

Powderview Lodge is one example. It has ski in access and is only a couple of minutes walk to the lifts, and has apartment or condo accommodation with 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom units. The Cascade Lodge is a new building with 2, 3 or 5 bedroom condos. It is ski in, has a communal hot tub, and the condos have fabulous facilities.

The Red Shutter Inn is ski lodge style. This isn’t a luxurious option, but is very inexpensive and conveniently located close to the base area. The atmosphere is very social, and the big hot tub is the social centre of the lodge. Many cat skiers stay here so there’s always a good story or two being told in the hot tub.

The Ram’s Head Inn is a luxurious bed and breakfast property that comes at a fraction of the price you would expect. It’s a little further away from the lifts than some of the other properties, but guests don’t seem to mind.

Rossland Accommodations The other alternative is to stay in the old gold mining town of Rossland which is a few kilometres from Red Resort. It’s only a small town, but it is delightfully pretty and the culture of the locals is fabulously laid-back. Compared with the “village” at the base of the resort, the town of Rossland has a little more variety in the way of dining, nightlife, and shopping options. Those without a car may find it a little clunky to get to the ski area, but it is possible.

Rossland has a range of accommodations available including hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and hostels.

Great hotel accommodation can be found at the Prestige Mountain Resort in the heart of town in Columbia Avenue. They have deluxe rooms, suites, and rooms with kitchenettes, all at great rates for quality lodging.

Budget accommodation can be found at the Mountain Shadow Hostel which is also conveniently located in Columbia Ave. It is only small and has 7 rooms: 2 private and 5 dormitory rooms with 4-6 beds per room. It has a communal common area and kitchen, and rates start from as little as $20 per night.
