Living in Atlanta requires an airplane ride to ski. Didn't start skiing until 49 and turning 70 I love it. With 69 ski resorts under my belt having powder days was few and far between. Have a few cat ski days under my belt so it was time to reach another level. Made the trip with my expert skier brother n law and tangiers did the rest. Great trip out of Revelstoke !! Cudo's to all.

Great Company, Well Organised

Unfortunately during our stay we did not get a great deal of snow (Feb 2015) however the guides were able to find some breathtaking terrain on various glaciers. We had stunning weather and the quality of the skiing was fantastic.

Every aspect of this company runs smoothly. We had no hiccups or delays, the equipment was good, the guides great as well.

Would recommend these guys purely because of their ability to do a well organised two day heli trip package.

Awesome everything

From the reservation through avalanche / beacon training, to guides and of course the powder, everything was beyond my expectations with Selkirk Tangiers.

Day heli "no frills" option offered perfect flexibility and an outstanding powder day that none of us will forget. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the guides along with their personable nature that kept everyone laughing and safe. Even the helicopter pilot left an excellent impression. We never waited for the heli and the scheduling was seamless even running 3 groups per chopper. It was evident that the guides care about the guests, the company and the terrain they took us through. They did their best to match skill levels and I wanted to thank them for this. While juggling skill levels, weight and capacity, our crew ended up with a photographer which was the cherry on top of the trip. Lunch was good and the hot tea was a welcome treat I started looking forward to.

We will be back! Thanks!

Oh Yeah, STHS was good!

It's pretty obvious why I keep going back to Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing year after year. The terrain, guides and snow are the best of the best. On my recent trip last week I was blown away once again on just how big and diverse their tenure is, now mix in the fact they get about 40-60 feet of snow per year. It's a no brainer why I have been visiting STHS almost every year since 1989. Yeah, it's that good.

For starters the Hillcrest Resort is a gorgeous, comfortable place to lay your head at night. Breakfasts and dinner at the Hillcrest are awesome. After an epic day of heli-shredding the Selkirks and Monashees slip into the Hillcrest's Mountain Guides Lounge for a local brew from Mt Begbie Brewery. Lot's of great stories being told here.

From low angle riding for the first time heli skier to steeps that will make a Billy Goat cringe STHS has the terrain. One of my favorite places is ski are in the cut blocks where the stumps build up with snow creating fun diving boards.

Absolutely loved everything - soooo much fun! This is a must if you are a serious skier. You have to try it at least once! The ONLY issue... Very expensive. If I could I would go every day, but the problem basically just comes down to money.

The guides are friendly the service is terrific the chopper is cool and awesome, the snow is to die for, everything is great... Just not so much the prices.

Speaking more of the prices... I don't like that if you book your ride and due to weather your skiing is limited that you do not get any kind of money back or a credit of some kind. I have a hard time paying so much money knowing that I may not get the full experience. But then again, I guess that's just the name of the game and I would assume it's the same anywhere else.

Pros: The time of your life.... So much fun! Most amazing snow. Great tour guides. They ensure your safety. Professional from start to finish.

Cons: Just so expensive.

Best suited for: Expert skiers or non-experts who are looking for a thrill. Just because you're skiing back country does not mean you have to be an expert.

*******NOTE:I just want to say as well regarding the expense... What else do you/can I expect... After all, you're riding in a helicopter all day being toured around the back country by expert tour guides. I mean... You can't expect that to be inexpensive... They've got costs to cover.

I just feel like I need to say that to be clear I'm not ripping on the organization for being expensive. It just the name of the game... Chopper costs and tour guides must be so expensive. I just wish it weren't of course :)

Great Trip with STH

We have now had the pleasure of heli-skiing with Selkirk Tangiers on two different occasions, in February 2011 and March 2012. Both experiences were really great. On our trip in March 2012, we had quite possibly the best ski day of our lives, thanks to Selkirk Tangiers. The conditions were just right, bluebird and a good deal of recent snowfall in the previous days. The guides at Selkirk Tangiers are well trained, and a very friendly bunch. Their tenure is huuuuuuge. Just looking at their tenure map is mindboggling. Our group had skiers and boarders of different skill levels, and everyone came away satisfied. I am an advanced/expert level skier, and my wife is a strong intermediate, and we both came away with a super day.

Pros: 1) Close proximity to RMR, 2) Great terrain and huge tenure, 3) Friendly knowledgeable guides that are very safety concious, 4) Amazing snow, 5) Epic alpine runs

Cons: 1) Heli pick-up point is a bit of a drive from their base lodge (20 minutes)

STHS

Helicopter rides, cold smoke and continual face shots are just another typical day of riding with Selkirk Tangiers Heli skiing in Revelstoke, Britsh Columbia.

Revelstoke is world renowned among powder skiers and it’s no wonder since winter storm cycles consistently dump bucket loads of some the lightest, driest snow in this zone. With an annual snowfall of 40-60 feet per year it’s no wonder Selkirk Tangiers made Revelstoke their base of operations.

STHS has been offering up the goods for powder enthusiasts for over 30 years. STHS gets you deep into some of the most scenic and rugged mountains in North America, the Selkirks and Monashee’s. This ideal combination of terrain and snowfall makes STHS tenure some of the worlds best heli skiing and with over 500,000 acres of terrain and over 200 established runs on glaciers, bowls and treed areas make STHS an incredible adventure.

STHS has a few different helicopters to ski out of, for more intimate groups of up to 4 skiers you can fly in the A-Star or if you have a big group of friends you can ride in the bigger bird, a Bell 205 which holds 10 skiers and two guides.

Revelstoke is a either a 5 to 6 hour drive north of Spokane or West from Calgary. Heli skiing is definitely something you need to do at least once in your lifetime. Go get some!

Selkirk Tangiers

POWDERHOUNDS.COM16/07/2010
Selkirk Tangiers provides heli skiing in the Mecca of heli skiing – Revelstoke – where legends abound regarding the steep and deep. Selkirk Tangiers is the only heli ski operator in the area to provide the flexibility to undertake a multi-day package (of 3, 4, 6 or 7 days in length) or just get a taste of heli skiing with a single day package. The latter is ideal for those who want to also sample cat skiing and resort skiing at Revelstoke.

One of the main advantages of Selkirk Tangiers is that the multi-day packages provide great value for money relative to other Canadian operators (including others with a 1:11 guide to guest ratio). Other pros include: minimal down days; a good mix of alpine and tree skiing; and great snow with quality and quantity (it scores 4.5 out of 5). Unfortunately when we went out it was neither steep nor deep because we were primarily in the alpine where the snow had been a little exposed and avalanche risk was of concern. But hey you can’t have steep and deep all the time!

One potential con is the large guest to guide ratio for the multi-day trips considering that most other Revelstoke operators have small group heli skiing, although this large ratio is pretty common across other parts of Canada (e.g. CMH etc).
