Facilities & Services

Big White Resort FacilitiesThere are various resort facilities available in the mid-mountain central village at Big White. In addition to retail shops, rental, and ski school, there are also lockers, an internet café, and a ski/board repair shop.

Down in Happy Valley, there are also services including the Happy Valley Adventure centre.

Eating On Mountain There are a few true on-mountain eateries for grabbing something between runs. There’s the Ridge day lodge at the bottom of the ridge rocket, and the Westridge warming hut at the bottom of Gem Lake which has basic fare. In the lower village, there’s the Happy Valley Lodge at the bottom of the gondola.

Considering the village is ski-in ski-out, there are plenty of options for lunch in any of the eateries. The village mall offers a yummy bakery and a coffee shop.

Even though lunch is pretty cheap in most places, you might also find yourself at home eating the previous night’s leftovers. When the accommodation is so conveniently located, why wouldn’t you go home to put up the feet over lunch?

Facilities for ChildrenBig White has one of the best kids programs, and has first class evening entertainment. Activities available include skating, hockey, tubing, fireworks and live entertainment. There are also regular family events such as carnival nights. The Mega Snow Coaster is a lot of fun!

Tot Town Day Care is for 18 months to 5 year olds and combines indoor and outdoor activities.

Ski School Big White offers a large variety of programs including private and group lessons, special improvement programs, terrain park lessons and race camps. As an indication of price, adult (13+ years) 2 hour group lessons are approx $47. A kid’s (ages 4-12) half day lesson is also $47, with a full-day costing approximately $80. Private lessons are $350 for the day for 3 people with half day rates also available.

In line with being a great family resort, the ski school is well developed and experienced at children’s lessons. The ski school base is in the centre of the village, which makes for easy access.

Ski and Snowboard Rental The rental shop in the village claims to have a wide range of skis available for hire, but unfortunately we had some trouble obtaining demo skis for the mid-to-advanced range. In addition to this, some skis hadn’t seen a tune in a while. For snowboarders, only a generic board is offered, with the assumption made that experts will BYO.

Ski or snowboard rental prices are approximately $32 for an adult for 1 day and $18 for a child (2009 rates). Click here for more details on rental equipment rates.

Banking Facilities There are ATMs in the village that accept international cards.
